Provides resources for children and families living with vision loss.

Service offers:

  • assessment of developmental needs associated with vision loss
  • consideration of additional disabilities and environmental needs
  • life skills training
  • educational toys and games and toy lending library
  • children / teen / parents support groups
  • summer youth programs
  • early intervention programs

Eligibility
Yes, Service targeted to individuals ages 21 years and younger (and their families) who have uncorrectable vision loss.
Application Process

  • individual may obtain eye report from physican or eye care specialist 
  • physican may refer to CNIB directly 
  • contact for more information about specific programs

Although clients may access this service directly, they will be asked to obtain a report from their eye care / medical practitioner describing their visual acuity and eye condition. Medical practitioners may refer patients to CNIB by forwarding a report of their patient's eye condition.

Wheelchair access: Yes - There are two public entrances, facing south and west. Building entrances are wheelchair accessible and feature automatic door openers. Washrooms, offices and elevator are wheelchair accessible.Other disabled access: Yes - Designed specifically for people with vision loss; special lighting/windows treated with tint; wall moulding/color contrasted; tactile flooring/carpeting; color contrast; large print/braille buttons in elevator; audio; dog run.
