Offers out-of-court procedures to deal with youth crime.

Service provides:

  • out-of-court procedures for dealing with youth crime

Committee panel members meet with the youth and parents or guardians to:

  • discuss circumstances surrounding the offence
  • reach an agreement on the sanctions with which the offender must comply within a certain time frame

Failure to complete sanctions agreement can result in appearing in court on the original charge.

Eligibility
Yes, Service targeted to:
  • first and second time young offenders
  • who were 12 to 17 years when they committed the crime
  • and who have committed minor, non-violent offences
Application Process

  • referral required from police or Crown Attorney
