- The service provides a dental care plan to help eligible Canadian residents who lack dental insurance overcome financial barriers to accessing oral health care.
Service offers:
- The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) will help ease financial barriers to accessing oral health care for eligible Canadian residents with an annual adjusted family net income of less than $90,000 who do not have access to dental insurance.
Examples of services that could be covered under the CDCP, as recommended by an oral health provider, includes the following:
- preventive services, including scaling (cleaning), sealants, and fluoride
- diagnostic services, including examinations and x-rays
- restorative services, including fillings
- endodontic services, including root canal treatments
- prosthodontic services, including complete and partial removable dentures
- periodontal services, including deep scaling
- oral surgery services, including extractions

Note: Some services will only become available in November 2024.
Oral health providers include dentists, denturists, dental hygienists, and, dental specialists.
The CDCP will only pay for oral health care services covered within the plan at the established CDCP fees. Medical transportation fees are not covered. Before receiving oral health care, CDCP clients should always ask their oral health provider about any costs that will not be covered by the plan.

- Yes, To qualify for the CDCP, individuals must:
- not have access to dental insurance
- have an adjusted family net income of less than $90,000
- reside in Canada for tax purposes
- have filed tax returns last year
- no dental insurance offered through your employer or a family member’s employer benefits, including health and wellness accounts;
- no dental insurance offered by a professional or student organization;
- no dental insurance offered through your pension (previous employer) or a family member’s pension benefits; or
- no dental insurance purchased by yourself or by a family member or through a group plan from an insurance or benefits company
- both meet eligibility criteria
- children under 18 qualify based on family net income

- English; French - The CDCP call center will only take inquiries in English and French. Anyone wanting to apply to the CDCP can do so with the help of a family member, friend or with a trusted delegate.

There is no fee to participate in the CDCP. However, based on the adjusted family net income, CDCP client my have a co-payment. The co-payment amounts are outlined below:
- lower than $70,000: 100 percent of eligible oral health care service costs will be covered at the CDCP established fees.
- between $70,000 and $79,999: 60 percent of eligible oral health care service costs will be covered at the CDCP established fees and 40% co-payment amount by the individual
- between $80,000 and $89,999: 40 percent of eligible oral health care service costs will be covered at the CDCP established fees and 60 percent co-payment amount by the individual
The CDCP fees may not be the same as what providers charge. CDCP clients may have to pay fees in addition to the potential co-payment if:
