Affordable Housing

Service offers:

• construction of affordable homes for working class families, from single-family houses to multi-unit developments
• no interest, no down payment mortgages for selected families
• the opportunity for families to purchase their home through a no down payment mortgage geared to their income
• support for families and individuals to prepare for homeownership by providing homeowner education classes, including financial literacy and budgeting to home-repair and maintenance
• family support program offering guidance and support in all aspects of home ownerships

• minimum employment income of $35,000 per year (this varies based on your location)
• maximum total household income dependent on family size
• at least one member of your household should work full-time (35 hours per week)
• consistent full-time work history for the past 2 years
• do not currently own real estate
• have lived in the city or town of application for at least two years
• all family members are Canadian Citizens or Permanent Residents 
• willing to volunteer 500 hours with Habitat
• no debts in Collections
• consumer Proposal must be in final year, considered on case-by-case basis 
• in need of better housing
• able to make mortgage payments
• balance of debt and mandatory monthly payments on debt are taken into consideration
