Addiction and Mental Health - Provincial Mobile Addiction Outreach

Alberta Health Services - Provincial Health Services

Description
The Provincial Mobile Addiction Outreach Initiative (PMAOI) is a program that helps break barriers for substance use recovery.

This program offers:
Integrated Outreach for Change
Integrated mobile and outreach services designed to support street-involved individuals, both youth and adults, affected by harmful substance use. Our mission is to reach those who often fall through the cracks, providing a lifeline for the underserved and homeless population disconnected from traditional support networks.

Community Partnerships for Impact
PMAOI contracted agencies forge partnerships with community organizations serving the street involved. Through collaborations with seven not-for-profit agencies under the management of Alberta Health Services Provincial Addiction and Mental Health, and Justice team, we ensure a network of alternative service supports tailored to their distinctive needs.

Empowering Agencies for Success
Our contracted agencies, driven by the goals of PMAOI, are committed to:

  • addiction services: Delivering essential addiction services to those engaged in harmful substance use
  • meet individuals where they are: providing services in informal settings through mobile outreach, creating safe environments for clients to feel heard and supported
  • comprehensive support: conducting screening, assessments, brief interventions, naloxone training, and facilitating referrals to other addiction services
  • capacity building: enhancing other community agencies' abilities in addiction treatment and knowledge of referral sources through consultation and training opportunities
