- Helps Albertans with a long-term disability or chronic or terminal illness to pay for basic medical equipment and supplies.
Service offers:
- funding for basic medical equipment and supplies to help Albertans with a long-term disability, chronic illness, or terminal illness stay independent in their communities
- Eligibility
- Yes, Service targeted to:
- Alberta residents
- with a valid Alberta Health Care Insurance Plan card
- who require assistance because of a long-term disability, chronic illness, or terminal illness (long-term and chronic are defined as being 6 months or longer)
- a private insurance plan
- Veterans Affairs (veterans who need help because of a medical condition from active duty)
- Workers' Compensation Board
- Non-Insured Health Benefits (NIHB) Directorate, First Nations and Inuit Branch, Health Canada

For those benefits that have a cost-share amount that is paid by clients, clients pay 25 per cent of the cost of program benefits up to a maximum of $500.00 per family per benefit year.
