Provides short - term shelter and case management for functionally independent older adults leaving an abusive home environment.

Service offers:

  • safe and secure short - term shelter
  • access to basic needs
  • case management for information, referral, and advocacy while transitioning to community living
  • community outreach services and supports as necessary

Affiliation: Partnered with Government of Alberta
Key Provider: registered social workers (RSW)
Eligibility
Yes, Service targeted to:
  • individuals 55 years and older
  • leaving an abusive home environment
  • who are functionally independent
  • individuals are not actively using substances while in shelter
  • older adults who can transport themselves to Calgary can access the shelter

Fee: Yes,

The first 21 days of an individual's stay is free of charge. An assessment is then completed to determine whether the individual is able to extend their stay up to 3 months.


 


After 21 days, rent is charged at 30% of an individual's income up to a maximum of $400.00.

Having no income is not an exclusion criteria.
