- Day Hospital - Youth is a short-term stabilization program that supports children, youth under 18 and their families transitioning from any mental health inpatient units back to their home, school, and community.
A 2 week program designed to support the successful transition from an in-patient stay back to home, school and community.
It is a a safe, structured, group treatment method that involves using everyday activities and a supported environment to help people with interaction in community settings.

Key Provider: family counsellors, occupational therapists (OTs), psychiatrists, psychosocial rehabilitation assistants (PSRAs), recreational therapists (RTs), registered nurses (RNs), teachers - Eligibility
- Yes, Service targeted to youth who:
- require intensive support to prevent inpatient admission
- are under 18
- have primary psychiatric diagnosis and requires skill building
- have cognitive capacity to participate in psychoeducational treatment
- have a goal to reduce addictive behaviours
- do not pose active behavioral risk to Day Hospital - Youth community

- Service Access: Professional Referral Required, Healthcare providers should consult the Alberta Referral Directory for service referral information.
This is a through service and not an endpoint; therefore, referral to Day Hospital must also have a secondary referral to an endpoint service.
