Description
Offers a rapid response intervention to stop an imminent eviction or utility disconnection.

Service provides:

  • a multi-faceted, rapid response intervention delivered by existing multi-program, human service organizations to stop an imminent eviction and / or a utility disconnection

Includes:

  • access to funds (no-interest loans) to pay late rent, utilities, or other costs that need to be paid in order to stop eviction
  • support with repayment plans
  • interventions / services designed to ensure that causes of the eviction are effectively addressed to avoid future reoccurrences
  • supports to address issues such as ongoing housing, income / employment, or other contributing factors that will help increase financial stability and maintain permanent housing
  • supports to negotiate with landlords / utility companies, assistance to find and apply for any benefits or grants
  • financial coaching

Eligibility
Yes, Service targeted to:
  • individuals and families
  • who reside in the City of Edmonton 
  • with low income (some source of income is required; no specific income threshold for low income)
  • who are currently in housing and facing eviction
  • who are willing to commit to and engage in the support plan process
Individuals need to prove a sustainable income moving forward. Program can assist with looking at other supplementary income sources individuals may be eligible for, however, if someone has no income, they are refered to apply for any eligible income source before going through this program.
