- The Urgent Clinic provides urgent, short-term psychiatric care for children and youth experiencing a mental health crisis - who do not otherwise have access to psychiatry on an urgent basis - following a presentation to the Stollery Emergency Department or the Crisis Team.
Following a presentation to the Stollery Emergency Department or the Crisis Team, a referral may be made to the Urgent Clinic; referrals are reviewed by the clinical team to determine if Urgent Clinic is the most appropriate service and, if so, the priority of the referral. Urgent Clinic provides:
- psychiatric consultation & assessment
- short-term follow-up
- medication optimization
- assistance with connection to appropriate community mental health services
- treatment recommendations to primary care provider
