Description
Provides a home and community-based rehabilitation program to improve a child's daily living skills and increase their caregiver's capacity.

Service provides:

  • support services for children who have a documented autism diagnosis, a query of autism and / or who meet criteria for support services

  • coaching and support for families

  • direct support to increase child skill and independence and to improve the overall quality of life for the entire family

  • information and referrals for relevant programming in Alberta

Programs include:

  • Specialized / Individualized Services - supporting children to increase independence in daily living skills, communication, and self regulation
  • increasing caregiver capacity to provide developmentally appropriate parenting; may include psychology and behavioural consultation, speech-language and communication services, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, aide supports, family coaching, and case management
  • Behavioural Developmental Support Services - a 6 month contract with 1 (or 2) professionals that is focused on achievable objectives within one behavioural / developmental area; a consultation model that includes assessment, priority setting, parent / family coaching, a written plan, a data collection system, co-ordination with other supports, and (if appropriate) direct intervention
  • Parent and child group-based services that target anxiety management and social skills

  • and their children with high support needs including autism

Children require a documented diagnosis of autism or a query of autism and must qualify under Family Support for Children with Disabilities (FSCD) criteria.

  • families with a child who has received a diagnosis or query of autism
  • Family Supports for Children with Disabilities (FSCD), other agencies from outside of Edmonton and area
