Offers services and assistance to victims of crime and trauma within the community.

Service provides:

  • services and assistance to victims of crime and trauma within the community

Includes:

  • emotional support to victims of crime or tragedy, their families, and friends
  • emotional support to witnesses of a crime or a tragedy
  • handouts on various topics including: break and enter, home and business security, personal safety, abuse issues, Dealing With the Loss of a Loved One (includes information on funeral arrangements, financial and legal information, the role of the Medical Examiner as well as grief and loss issues)
  • information on the criminal justice system
  • information regarding Restraining Orders, Peace Bonds, and Emergency Protection Orders
  • information and assistance with Victim Impact Statements, Requests for Restitution, and Financial Benefits Program
  • assistance in developing a safety plan for women and children in domestic violence situations or for sexual assault victims
  • court preparation for adults, children, and youth
  • court accompaniment and support for adults, youth, and children (victims / witnesses)
  • referrals to community resources based on the client's needs
  • information about probation and parole status after court disposition

  • who are residents within the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) detachment areas of Peace River, Grimshaw, McLennan, and Red Earth Creek

  • a referral from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) is required
