Description
Offers a 10 week psycho-educational program providing groups for parents and children who have experienced and witnessed domestic violence.

Service offers:

  • a group educational program for parents and their children who have experienced and / or witnessed domestic abuse (have changed the model to better accommodate the current needs of families)
  • special parent-only groups once per year
  • 2 different sessions of 10 weeks each; one session (fall) is for women identifying persons (moms) and their children and the second session (spring) allows for all genders of parents and their children

Each weekly group session is 2 hours in length with a communal meal, group / parenting support, and education.

Eligibility
Yes, Service targeted to:
  • women
  • or parents
  • and their children 5 to 16 years
  • who have experienced or witnessed domestic violence
Anyone from across Alberta is eligible for the program as long as they can get to each program session located in St. Albert.

Participants have to be pre-screened before registration. There are 2 session intakes each year. The first is in August / early September for the fall session ending mid December. The second is in December / early January for the winter session ending mid March. Special 4-week parents-only group runs in June of each year.
