- This level ll unit provides specialized care to critically ill newborns.
Provides care to critically ill newborn babies and service includes:
- short-term ventilation
- continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP)
- nutrition by intravenous, which is called total parenteral nutrition (TPN)
Key Provider: dietitians, doctors, licensed practical nurses (LPNs), physical therapists (PTs), registered nurses (RNs), respiratory therapists (RTs), social workers, pharmacists - Eligibility
- Yes, Babies 32 weeks and over. NICU also will provide services to previous NICU graduates and other newborns who have been discharged and require admission for this level of care. This is at the discretion of the pediatrician.
