- Description
- Assists youth, who have been or continue to be in the care or custody of Alberta Children and Family Services, to transition into adulthood as they pursue their educational goals.
Service provides:
- assistance to youth who have been or continue to be in the care or custody of Alberta Children and Family Services, to achieve their educational goals
Includes:
- up to $40,000.00 in tuition costs
- 60 months of other supports, including living allowances and childcare
- attainment of an employable skill set
- and more
Educational goals can be obtained by:
- upgrading / adult education (only in order to gain entrance to a post-secondary program)
- earning a degree or diploma from an approved Alberta post-secondary institution
- learning a trade
- earning a licence or certificate
- Eligibility
- Yes, Service targeted to individuals:
- 18 to 24 years at the time of application
- attending school on a full- or part-time basis
- who have had a Permanent Guardianship Order (PGO) when they were 13 to 18 years
- or who have been in the care or custody of Alberta Children and Family Services for at least 18 months when they were 13 to 24 years
