Description
Offers a private and secure facility for women and children in need of short-term emergency accommodation.

Service provides:

  • a safe, secure, and supportive shelter for women and their children in need of short-term emergency accommodation
  • resources and arranging accommodation in hotels for men in need of short-term emergency accommodation

Shelter includes:

  • 15 bedrooms (44 beds)
  • staff specialized in crisis intervention and safety planning
  • free on-site laundry
  • hot meals and snacks
  • clothing for children and adults
  • recreational and private spaces
  • support groups
  • a resource library
  • respite childcare and after-school programs
  • wheelchair accessibility and limited mobility accessibility
  • allows pets

Suggested items that may help clients secure housing, employment, financial assistance, and legal / police services if planning to leave an abuser include:

  • important papers / identifications
  • driver's license
  • Alberta Health card
  • social insurance card
  • birth certificate
  • immigration papers
  • custody papers
  • personal items
  • wallet / purse
  • medication / prescriptions
  • glasses / contacts
  • comfort items
  • soother / bottles (if client has children)

These items are not required to stay at the shelter.

Eligibility
Yes, Shelter service targeted to:

  • who are in need of short-term emergency accommodation
Spaces are inclusive of cisgender and transgender women. Agency will provide resources and arrange accommodation in hotels for men who are experiencing domestic abuse.

  • call the 24/7 Crisis Intervention Line (collect calls are accepted)
