Service provides:

• regulation of Alberta's laws involving the access to information and protection of privacy
• advocacy to ensure that public bodies, health custodians, and private sector organizations uphold these laws
• guidelines for conducting the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information used by public bodies, health custodians, health service providers, and private sector organizations
• the opportunity and right for individuals to request access to all information in the custody or control of public bodies, health records in the custody or under the control of health service providers, and their own personal information

Includes:

• assurance that public bodies are in compliance with the provisions in the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy (FOIP) Act
• assurance that health service providers are in compliance with the provisions in the Health Information Act (HIA)
• guidelines regarding the collection use and disclosure of personal information through the Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA)
