English and Employment

Service proivdes:

• classes to improve English communication skills for employment purposes

Classes include:

• Skills for Work - classes focus on learning skills such as reading and listening to instructions, working safely, and understanding workplace culture; students will learn reading, listening, speaking, writing, relevant grammar, pronunciation, and sentence structure
• Employment Awareness Training - provides students with the knowledge, skills, and connections they need for success as they live and work in Canada
• Communicative Workplace English - for newcomers already employed or hoping to find jobs in the restaurant, food, and beverage industry

• 18 years and older

• permanent residents or those who have been approved for permanent residency
• or immigrants and refugees who are not Canadian citizens
• or those whose Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level is 4 and above

• Canadian citizens
• or permanent residents with Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) levels of 4, 5, or 6

The Skills for Work course has fees; contact for details. The other programs are free.

Program hours vary. Skills for Work classes run for 12 week sessions. Employment Awareness Training runs weekly.
