Offers a companion to support those experiencing grief.

Service provides:

  • a grief and bereavement companion who will support those experiencing grief

Includes:

  • companions who have had specialized training in the companioning model of care established by Dr. Alan Wolfelt
  • a compassionate, mourner-led, and soul- / spirit-based approach
  • a focus on actively listening to those experiencing grief and being present to another person's pain rather than taking it away
  • a safe, non-judgmental, and sacred space to tell one's story, walk alongside another, transform the loss, and find the way to a new normal

Key Provider: specially trained volunteers
Eligibility

  • anyone who is terminally ill
  • or who has recently suffered a death close to them
