Programs and Services

Provides a place where individuals can learn about the evolution of rural life in Central Alberta.

Service offers:

  • opportunities for individuals to experience and learn about the evolution of rural life in Central Alberta during the 1880s to 1950s

Educational school programs include:

  • Pioneer Life - learn about pioneer life in central Alberta including plowing, seeding, haying, harvesting, and more 
  • Levers and Gears - learn how much weight can be moved with a lever or pulley, experiment at a number of stations, and apply this knowledge to graders, combines, and tractors
  • Harvest - experience pioneer harvest time and see how crops were harvested, how fuel is prepared, garden harvesting, grind grain into flour, and taste preserves

Summer Day Camps include:

  • feeding chickens
  • making butter
  • pumping water
  • cooking on a wood stove
  • farm chores
  • exploring an 1889 log home
  • weekly themes related to pioneer, nature, trades, and First Nations culture and history 

Also offers:

  • a calendar of events such as pie sales, old fashioned ham dinners, country fairs, lunches at the farm, the heritage breeds lawn show, barbeques, Pioneer Days Festival, and turkey suppers
  • venue rental and catering
