Mentorship and Leadership


Description
Provides mentorship opportunities by connecting youth with adults and professionals.

Service provides:

  • multi-level mentorship that matches youth mentees to adult mentors

Includes:

  • one-on-one mentorship where mentors provide academic supports, social and personal supports, and community supports
  • professional mentorship where youth are matched with professionals in their desired fields
  • group mentorship within a school setting
  • cultural mentorship that exposes youth to dance, cooking, and beading to enhance their connection to collective and individual African cultures
  • afro-centric Basketball League led by Black coaches 
  • skill development in leadership, teamwork, communication, conflict resolution, anger management, time management, and organization 
  • leadership development opportunities, including training, workshops, and projects
  • Wisdom Keeper's Circle: composed of African community leaders and sages that provide cultural advice, guidance, and support
Affiliation: Funded by Family and Community Support Services (FCSS).
