Description
Provides intervention, outreach, resources, and supports to vulnerable and displaced sexual and gender minority youth and young adults, especially supporting persons who are homeless or street-involved.

Service provides:

  • frontline service provision, resources, and education for sexual and gender minority and 2-Spirit, lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans,, and queer (2SLGBTQ+) youth facing barriers to mental health, sexual health, addictions, homelessness, and other challenges
  • an intersection of four key program areas - community outreach, Indigenous peer support / liaison, mental health, and crisis intervention

Includes:

  • Below the Belt (BTB) Project - support and resources for male identified individuals engaged in sex work or survival sex
  • counselling and mental health support
  • suicide intervention and crisis intervention
  • sexual health education that is inclusive and comprehensive
  • free, confidential, and inclusive STI testing
  • OUTpost - an outreach site where youth can access basic need supplies, harm reduction supplies, food, support and is a safe space
  • GLOW - workshops and events focused on empowerment and resilience for sexual and gender minority youth
  • accessibility to staff as needed
Affiliation: Partnered with Alberta Health Services, Edmonton Police Service, and Ministry of Children's Services.
Eligibility
Yes, Service targeted to youth who are:
  • sexual and gender minority (SGM) and 2-Spirit, lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans,, and queer (2SLGBTQ+)
  • ages 14 to 29
