Promotes and enhances participants' vocabulary and communication needs for daily living, basic English and digital skills and functions when using electronic equipment.

Service offers:

  • support to newcomers in overcoming language barriers and developing essential social survival skills in Canada
  • opportunities to practice English conversation in a fun and lively way and meet new friends
  • help to understand and use digital systems, tools, applications and online platforms more proficiently, learning netiquette, and information on how to protect yourself from cybercrime

Includes:

  • English language learners (ELL) Essential Classes Level 1 (basic) adult English classes
  • ELL Essential Classes Level 2 (intermediate) adult English classes
  • Daily English for Beginners Level 1 (basic)
  • Daily English for Beginners Level 2 (intermediate)
  • Basic Digital Literacy Class
  • Intermediate Digital Literacy Class

Eligibility
Yes, Service targeted to:
  • varies based on program
Daily English Learning for Beginners targeted to:
  • Chinese newcomers / immigrants
  • with no or little exposure to English language (pre-bench-Canadian Language Benchmarks level 1) and Canadian culture
Digital Literacy classes targeted to:
  • Basic / Low Literacy Classes - recommended for literacy English language learners foundation to literacy level 3
  • Intermediate Literacy Classes - recommended for Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC), English as an Additional Language (EAL), English as a Second Language (ESL) learners of intermediate level
