Helps newcomers to Canada build essential English skills for daily life and work and helps equip them with basic digital skills for everyday tasks.

Service offers:

  • support in overcoming language barriers and building confidence for daily life
  • lessons in essential vocabulary, basic sounds, and simple sentence patterns for real-world communication
  • opportunities to practice English conversation in a lively environment and meet new friends
  • help with understanding and using digital tools, systems, and online platforms
  • tips on online etiquette (netiquette) and protecting oneself from cybercrime

Includes:

  • Daily English for Beginners Level 1 for learners with basic English - pre-Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB)
  • Daily English for Beginners Level 2 for beginners at CLB 1 level
  • Daily English for Beginners Level 3 for high beginners at CLB 1-2 level
  • English language learners (ELL) Essential Classes Level 1 (basic) adult English classes
  • ELL Essential Classes Level 2 (intermediate) adult English classes
  • Basic Digital Literacy Class
  • Intermediate Digital Literacy Class

Daily English Learning for Beginners targeted to:
  • Chinese newcomers / immigrants
  • with no or little exposure to English language (pre-bench-Canadian Language Benchmarks level 1) and Canadian culture
Digital Literacy classes targeted to:
  • Basic / Low Literacy Classes - recommended for literacy English language learners foundation to literacy level 3
  • Intermediate Literacy Classes - recommended for Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC), English as an Additional Language (EAL), English as a Second Language (ESL) learners of intermediate level
