- Diagnosis and treatment of urgent, but non-life-threatening illnesses and injuries. These include sudden illness or injury that normally could be cared for in a doctor's office but require immediate attention.
Advanced Ambulatory Care Service is intended to meet the needs of patients with unscheduled health needs, particularly when care is required within 24 hours. Appointments are not needed. Patients are seen according to their assessed health needs. The most seriously ill patients will be seen first.
Ambulances are only received if they have been cleared by the on-call doctor before they arrive.
Examples of when to use this service:
- earaches
- removal of foreign material (e.g. from eyes, ears)
- minor cuts and burns
- minor fractures, strains and sprains
- fever, elevated temperature in young children
- minor allergic reactions
