The Preschool Comprehensive Assessment & Treatment Clinic(PCAT) is one of the care streams within the Infant and Preschool Assessment Service (IPAS) at the Glenrose. It is a diagnostic service that assesses children with tertiary level developmental and social-emotional needs.

The Preschool Comprehensive Assessment & Treatment Clinic (PCAT) assesses children who require more intensive assessment than that provided through the Infant and Preschool Assessment Service (IPAS). These children have complex developmental and social-emotional needs. The type of assessment is specific to each child's and family's needs and may include home and school observations, standardized assessment tools, and / or inclusion in a preschool classroom group.

Key Provider: child psychiatrists, early childhood development specialists, occupational therapists (OTs), pediatricians, psychologists, registered nurses (RNs), social workers, speech-language pathologists, therapy assistants
Eligibility
Yes, The eligibility requirements are as follows:
  • there must be a diagnostic question
  • the child is from 4 – 5 years of age
  • the child exhibits complex developmental needs and social-emotional challenges (e.g., learning, motor, behaviour, regulation, executive functioning, speech-language, etc.)
  • necessary assessments and primary and secondary treatment options have been attempted and accessed in the community
