- The Preschool Comprehensive Assessment & Treatment (PCAT) Program is part of the Infant and Preschool Assessment Service (IPAS) at the Glenrose. It is a service that assesses young children with delays in growth and age-related milestones and the ways they relate and engage with others.
The PCAT Program looks at children with more serious needs compared to those in the Infant and Preschool Assessment Service (IPAS).
Assessment is tailored to each child and family, which may include:
- watching them at home and school,
- using standardized tests, and
- taking part in a preschool classroom group.
Key Provider: child psychiatrists, early childhood development specialists, occupational therapists (OTs), pediatricians, psychologists, registered nurses (RNs), social workers, speech-language pathologists, therapy assistants - Eligibility
- Yes, The eligibility requirements are as follows:
- there must be a diagnostic question
- the child is from 4 – 5 years of age
- the child exhibits complex developmental needs and social-emotional challenges (e.g., learning, motor, behaviour, regulation, executive functioning, speech-language, etc.)
- necessary assessments and primary and secondary treatment options have been attempted and accessed in the community

The legal guardian is required to request a referral from the child’s pediatrician / physician.
