- Provides a community space for community activities, events, advocacy, employment programs and counselling.
Service offers:
- drop-in community centres where people experiencing homelessness and poverty can access emergency assistance, basic needs support and referral while providing a greater sense of community and well-being
Included at all locations:
- advocacy for clients for referrals to appropriate services, aiding with system navigation and removing barriers
- basic needs referrals (clothing, furniture, ID, housing, food, baby hamper)
- access to telephones and a mailing address
- spiritual care regardless of faith (voluntary, not required)
- bingo and other games
- warm beverages
Downtown Community Impact Centre:
- employment coaching
- Food Bank, registered clients can collect their Food Bank items at scheduled times
- legal guidance (appointment required)
- haircuts provided by stylists and barbers
- free clothing on scheduled dates
- computer and Internet access
- art classes, drawing and painting opportunities
- creative writing classes
Marlborough Community Impact Centre:
- employment coaching (one-on-one job coaching and mentorship)
- counselling for anyone aged 14 and older (referrals required)
- income support application assistance (guidance and Alberta Commissioner of Oaths services)
- adult English as a Second Language, designed for beginners and intermediate speakers
- COBS Bread, on Tuesdays, stop by to grab a loaf of fresh bread
- free tax clinic, files income tax returns and answers questions about taxes
- free internet and laptop usage
- sewing machine available to mend clothing (not a sewing class)
- Little Readers (school calendar year), a program for children in the area in K - Grade 2 with a focus on improving and teaching reading skills (parental consent required)
- Rock the Nation (school calendar year), a program for children in the area in grades 7-9 that provides a safe space to hang out, learn life skills and learn about volunteerism
- Summer Day Camp, a pre-registered program for kids in grades 1-6 that focuses on building children's confidence, leadership skills and teamwork (eligibility screening upon registration and snacks provided)
