Description
Matches law students with non-profit organizations to provide free legal information under the supervision of a lawyer.

Service offers:

  • the matching of University of Alberta law students with eligible non-profit organizations to provide legal information under the supervision of a lawyer working pro bono
  • representation in human rights appeals for eligible claims offered by the Human Rights Commission
  • representation in tax appeals
  • co-ordination and operation of Pro Bono Law Alberta court based programs of Civil Claims Duty Counsel and Queen's Bench Amicus

Volunteer law students can:

  • research legal issues that are relevant to an organization or the population they assist
  • produce reports of law, policies, and procedures
  • review the organization's policies, contracts, and bylaws
  • participate in Civil Claims Duty Counsel and Queen's Bench Amicus Programs
  • participate in human rights appeals and tax appeals
