  • English language and literacy assessments using the Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) tools
  • referrals to language training programs such as LINC and¬†English as a Second Language (ESL), occupational skills training, employment bridging, and other educational programs
  • educational counselling - advice and referrals to educational programs, information about student financing, professional licensing requirements, and more
  • information sessions and workshops on topics related careers and employment, education and student financing, language assessment, and more
  • an online directory of ESL programs and services in selected urban centres in Alberta

Does not offer any employment services such as resume writing or assisted job search.

Yes, Service targeted to newcomers:
  • 18 years and older
  • whose first language is not English
  • and who are permanent residents, Convention refugees, or Canadian citizens
  • living in and around Edmonton

Limited in-person services are available by appointment only; no drop-in services are offered at this time. Individuals will be asked to present their immigration document(s) and photo identification (ID). Referral Process: No

Fee: Yes,

Free for permanent residents, Convention refugees, and Canadian citizens. Fee-for-service assessments are available for temporary residents or temporary foreign workers: $125.00 for Canadian Language Benchmark Placement Test (CLBPT) and $150.00 for Canadian Language Benchmark Assessment (CLBA).
