Provides language assessment services, referrals to language or skills training programs, educational counselling, and more.

Service offers:

  • language assessment services
  • referrals to career and / or skills training programs
  • educational counselling

Includes:

  • English language and literacy assessments using the Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) tools
  • referrals to language training programs such as LINC and English as a Second Language (ESL), occupational skills training, employment bridging, and other educational programs
  • educational counselling, advice, and referrals to educational programs, information about student financing, professional licensing requirements, and more
  • information sessions and workshops on topics related careers and employment, education and student financing, language assessment, and more
  • an online directory of ESL programs and services in selected urban centres in Alberta

Does not offer any employment services such as resume writing or assisted job search.

Eligibility
Yes, Service targeted to newcomers:
  • 18 years and older
  • whose first language is not English
  • and who are permanent residents, Convention refugees, Canada-Ukraine Authorization for Emergency Travel (CUAET) visa-holders, or Canadian citizens
  • living in and around Edmonton
Application Process
Service Access: By Appointment, To access service:
  • new clients must register in-person during new client registration hours
  • clients who are already registered can drop in or call to book an appointment
Individuals will be asked to present their immigration document(s) and photo identification (ID).
