Offers a parenting class for newcomers to Canada.

Service offers:

  • a 6 session parenting class for immigrant / refugee parents

Includes:

  • investigating how to parent effectively in the Canadian context while drawing strength from one's own ethnic identity
  • finding ways to build relationships with your children in trusting and supportive ways
  • discovering opportunities to effectively communicate in both the family and community context
  • exploring parenting strategies and problem solving with others
  • learning about positive discipline and how to apply it in parenting
  • increasing awareness about family violence
  • strengthening support networks
  • childcare and snacks
  • a certificate for participants who attend all 6 sessions
