Description
Provides assessment and treatment for clients with complex medical conditions benefiting from a short term, time-limited, active rehabilitation program.

The Community Rehabilitation Interdisciplinary Service (CRIS) provides assessment and treatment for adults with complex medical conditions through two specialized programs: the Interdisciplinary Rehabilitation Program and the Lymphedema Program. Both programs offer client-centered, time-limited rehabilitation services to optimize function and support self-management.

  • CRIS Interdisciplinary Rehabilitation Program provides assessment and treatment for clients with complex medical conditions requiring short-term, active rehabilitation program.
  • CRIS Lymphedema Program offers specialized services for individuals with complex non-cancer-related lymphedema.

Key Provider: occupational therapists (OTs), physical therapists (PTs), recreation therapists, rehabilitation assistants, social workers, speech language pathologists (SLPs)
Eligibility
Yes, For elgibility:
  • 18+ residing in the Edmonton Zone
  • new functional need(s) which is appropriate for community, time limited, ambulatory active rehab program and cannot be addressed through other public resources
  • requires OT / SLP involvement to qualify for CRIS, may require a multidisciplinary approach / have specific goals requiring only OT or SLP
  • demonstrates readiness by being: medically, psychologically, and cognitively appropriate and safe to participate in a light to moderate intensity active rehab program; motivated to identify functional goal(s) and prioritize rehab
  • independent or accompanied by someone who can assist with medical management, bowel / bladder management, mobilizing in and out of the clinic spaces with or without a mobility device, and arrange / provide own transport and associated costs
  • resides independently in the community / is living independently in supportive living
Application Process
Service Access: By Appointment, Healthcare providers should consult the Alberta Referral Directory for service referral information. Exclusion Criteria:
  • functional need is related to WBC claim / recent MVA (last 2 years)
  • resides in Continuing Care type A, B, or B secure
  • requires only PT services
  • specialized therapy / Tertiary level care is required
Lymphedema Services can only be accessed through the Mother Rosalie Health Services Centre location with a health care provider referral. Call the referral information number to request referral information. Telephone and virtual services (via Zoom) are available for individual and group intervention.
