- Offers immigrant women access to the tools needed to participate fully in Canadian economic, cultural, and social life.
Service provides:
- a 7 week program for groups of 10 to 15 immigrant women to connect with each other and the broader community to share experiences, knowledge, and resources
Includes:
- guest speakers
- wellness activities
- employment preparation
- visiting sites of interest around the city
- attending networking events
- exploring topics related to employment, personal growth, and getting settled in Edmonton
- free childcare
Goals of the program are:
- to empower women to create the lives they envision for themselves in Canada
- increased confidence in decision making and participating in networking activities
- improved interview and job search skills
- access to volunteering, educational, or employment opportunities
- membership in an active alumni network of professional immigrant women in Edmonton
- Eligibility
- Yes, Service targeted to:
- immigrant women
- with education or professional experience in their home countries
- who are permanent residents of Canada and reside in Alberta
- and who possess language proficiency of Canadian Language Benchmark Assessment (CLBA) 4 or higher in speaking and listening
