Childcare Subsidy

Service offers:

• financial assistance to eligible families to help with the cost of childcare

Approved childcare facilities include:

• licensed facility-based programs: daycare, out-of-school care, and preschool
• licensed family day home agencies
• licensed group family childcare

Also provides extra supports, including:

• Extended Hours Childcare Subsidy for parents who work or attend classes during evenings or weekends

Maximum subsidy rates vary by:

• family's household income
• program type
• age of child attending childcare
• hours attended

• parents / caregivers or their spouses / partners who are residents of Alberta
• who are, or have a child who is, a citizen or permanent resident of Canada, temporary resident with a work permit, refugee claimant, or protected person claimant
• who are working, looking for work, attending school, or have special needs or have a child with a special need
• with children 12 years and younger not yet attending grade 7
• and have a secured spot in a licensed facility-based program with preschool, daycare, or out-of-school care, or a family day home program overseen by a licensed agency
• with an annual total family income less than $180,000 for children 0 years to kindergarten age in childcare during regular school hours and $90,000 for children in kindergarten to grade 6 in childcare outside of school hours
