Description
Provides investigative services for all occurrences of child sexual abuse and severe physical abuse.

Service offers:

  • investigative services for all occurrences of child sexual abuse and severe physical abuse

Includes:

  • all complaints concerning sexual abuse of children under 14 years old
  • sexual assault complaints pertaining to youth 14 to 17 years old where the suspect is in a position of trust or authority over the youth (such as group homes, schools, and more)
  • all serious physical assaults and neglect issues pertaining to children under 14 years old
  • incidents of "stranger" abductions of children under 14 years old
  • incidents of parental abductions where the children are at imminent risk of harm, or are known to have been taken from the province of Alberta

Police work with a multi-disciplinary team in a child-focused, child-friendly environment to:

  • allow for a more efficient gathering of information
  • minimize additional trauma for the children by minimizing the number of interviews and repetitive questions posed by the various agencies involved
  • gather better information and greater potential for convicting suspects

Affiliation: Partnered with Zebra Child Protection Centre Society, Alberta Children's Services, Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Alberta Justice, and Alberta Health Services.

  • call 9-1-1 to report urgent matters (such as stranger abductions, aggravated assaults, forensic considerations in sexual abuse matters)
