Complex Pediatric Therapies Developmental Assessment Clinic
Alberta Health Services - Edmonton Zone
- Description
- The Complex Pediatric Therapies Developmental Assessment Clinic at GRH and a similar follow-up program at Alberta Children's Hospital track how children who get life-saving therapies in Alberta are growing and learning.
These clinics are part of a program called the Complex Pediatric Therapies Follow-up Program across several provinces. They assess children after life-saving surgeries and heart-lung support to check their development, abilities, and provide help if needed. Services aim to support young children in reaching early milestones and assist preschoolers with school placement and learning. Assessments occur at six months after treatment, again between 18 to 24 months old, and once more at four to five years of age. Time needed for an assessment varies based on:
- the location
- the child's age
- the number of healthcare providers involved
