Description
A day treatment program for children in Grades 3 to 7 who have several mental health issues affecting their everyday activities. The Calgary Board of Education (CBE) provides on-site classrooms.

CDTP is voluntary program that provides the following:

  • mental health assessment and treatment recommendations
  • psychiatric consultation
  • weekly family therapy
  • structured group programming

Caregivers are expected to attend regular family therapy sessions and case conferences.

Key Provider: child life specialists, family counsellors, mental health clinicians, occupational therapists (OTs), psychiatrists, psychologists, psychometrists, psychosocial rehabilitation assistants, registered nurses (RNs), speech language pathologists (SLPs), teachers
Eligibility
Yes, Child must be in grade 3 to grade 7 and have:
  • a clinical need for a comprehensive multidisiciplinary assessment & conceptualization, that cannot met in the community
  • medical stability
  • a primary care physician (family doctor/pediatrician)
  • moderate to severe emotional, cognitive and/ or other mental health symptoms
  • moderate-severe significant difficulty functioning in regular day to day activities (i.e school, community)
  • a parent or legal guardian who consents, and is able to be actively involved and engaged in intensive family therapy
  • transportation to and from the program
  • the ability to participate in a milieu/classroom based setting
