Service offers:
- specialized programming to students who are unable to complete their studies at school due to medical conditions, emotional or behavioural challenges, or young offender status
- support in building academic, social, and independent living skills
Includes programming for:
- mental health - academic and behavioural supports for students in all grades who require mental health services
- hospital stays and medical needs - short-term intensive educational, therapeutic, and medical services, psychiatric assessment classrooms, and transition planning for kindergarten to grade 12 students during a hospital stay or other medical reasons; students can attend hospital classrooms or be seen at bedside for instruction
- young offenders - basic literacy supports and a full range of junior and senior high school courses for students under 18 years old who are admitted by, and are the responsibility of, Alberta Justice, Child and Family Services, or a community agency serving young offenders located in Edmonton
- students with complex needs - supports for students in grades 4 to 12 who have been diagnosed with severe oppositional defiant disorder, conduct disorder, severe mental health issues, or complex learning and behavioural needs
- moderate cognitive disabilities, significant developmental delays and behavioural difficulties (Community Learning Skills / Behaviour and Learning Assistance / Connections) - supports students to develop academic, communication, personal and social skills
