- Provides short-term emergency accommodation and support to women and children in crisis.
Service offers:
- safe, secure, short-term emergency housing and support for women and children fleeing abusive situations or in other crisis situations
Includes:
- crisis intervention
- counselling and support
- guidance in determining goals, options, and choices
- a childcare worker to work with mothers and children
- family violence education on topics such as definitions of abuse, cycle of violence, identifying abusive behaviours, and healthy / unhealthy relationships
- referrals to other agencies
- safety planning and assessments
- learning life skills (meal planning, parenting, discipline, social skills, modeling non-abusive behaviour and the general running of a home)
- Community Group Conference Mediation
- ongoing support and outreach once independence is reached
Affiliation: Alberta Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) to offer the Pet Safekeeping Program
