Description
Provides youth-oriented programs and resources designed to provide young people with mentorship and alternatives to criminal lifestyles.

Service offers:

  • officers to investigate crimes and monitor criminal activity in and around junior high schools, paying special attention to any group/gang activity and graffiti/tagging;
  • Gateway Program, a youth diversion project for police officers
  • MASST Program, an early intervention initiative that supports children who are exhibiting high risk behavior or who are at increased risk for victimization  
  • YARD (Youth At Risk Detail) Program for youth at risk of joining gangs by developing an individualized support plan to decrease the likelihood of further gang involvement
  • Start Smart Stay Safe classroom presentations on bullying, drugs and peer pressure
  • Bullying Ends Here presentation
  • ReDirect is prevention and education program aimed at youth and young adults vulnerable to becoming radicalized, before they develop extremist ideologies or intentions
  • Power Play Hockey program is a free, weekly drop in program for ages 6 to 17, who are facing various cultural or financial barriers
