Description
Provides confidential medical care, emotional support, reporting options, forensic examination and evidence collection for people who have been sexually assaulted in the last 7 days ( 168 hours ).

CSART is a team of registered nurses, doctors and crisis counsellors who have specialized training and expertise to support people who have been sexually assaulted.

If you or your child has been sexually assaulted in the last 7 days ( 168 hours ), we can offer confidential services including:

  1. medical treatment with no police involvement or
  2. medical treatment with police involvement, forensic exam and evidence collection or
  3. medical treatment, forensic exam, evidence collection and storage. You can have up to 1 year to decide if you want to report to the police

A crisis counsellor from Calgary Communities Against Sexual Abuse ( CCASA ) can provide emotional support and strategies for coping after a sexual assault, assess your immediate needs, and follow up with you if you choose.

Yes, If you have been sexually assaulted in the last 7 days and you are:
14 years old / older go to Sheldon M. Chumir Health Care urgent care / any emergency department / urgent care centre
13 years old / younger go to the Alberta Children’s Hospital emergency department

Application Process
Service Access: Walk-in / Drop In Service, If you have been sexually assaulted in the past 7 days and you are 14 years old or older go to Sheldon M. Chumir Health Care (SMCHC) urgent care or any emergency department or urgent care centre. Tell the triage nurse when you check-in that you've been sexually assaulted.
If you have been sexually assaulted within the past 7 days and you are 13 years old or younger - go to the Alberta Children's Hospital Emergency Department. Tell the triage nurse when you check-in that you or your child has been sexually assaulted.
If it is an emergency call: 911
If you are a healthcare provider and you need to access or consult with CSART, call Foothills Medical Centre switchboard.
