COVID-19 UPDATE: Alberta Supports Centres are temporarily suspending in-person services. AISH and Income Support clients who need assistance should contact their caseworker directly or call their local office during regular business hours. Provides an emergency benefit to clients on Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped (AISH)

Service provides:

  • an emergency benefit to help with costs to deal with an emergency situation beyond a client's control that puts them or their dependents at immediate risk

An emergency situation is one where Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped (AISH) determines that the health or safety of the client or their dependent child is immediately at risk.

The emergency benefit may cover the cost of:

  • accommodation
  • childcare
  • damage deposit
  • eviction due to outstanding rental arrears
  • food
  • essential repairs to principal residence or to major appliances
  • replacement clothing
  • transportation
  • utility arrears where a disconnection notice has been received
  • other goods and services required in an emergency situation
Eligibility
Yes, Service targeted to:
  • Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped (AISH) clients
  • who meet the eligibility criteria for Personal Benefits
  • who are in a situation that is beyond their control and presents as an immediate health or safety risk
  • and who cannot access the same or similar benefit from any other program or source
Personal benefits cannot be used to supplement benefits provided by other programs. Personal benefits may be issued subject to repayment in certain circumstances.
