Offers a respite childcare program for families of children with a query or diagnosis of fetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD).

Service offers:

  • respite childcare for families of children with fetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD)
  • support based upon individual need

Areas of focus include:

  • facilitating receptive and expressive communication
  • improving cognitive abilities
  • promoting independence through daily living skills
  • enhancing social inclusion and social and emotional development
  • improving fine and gross motor skills
  • regulation through sensory integration, specialized environments, and behavioral support plans

Eligibility
Yes, Service targeted to:
  • 3 to 9 years
  • with a diagnosis or query of fetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD)
Individuals 10 to 12 years of age may be accepted under special consideration. 
Application Process
Service Access: Registration Required, To access service:
  • families or caregivers can self refer or community referral can be provided
  • contact to schedule a tour, register, or complete screening and intake process and provide consent for services
Intake is limited to 33 individuals and enrollment is pending space vacancies. Parent-provided transportation is needed for those who reside outside of Edmonton.
