Description
Delivers document translation services and facilitates interpretation sessions to help newcomers access services, programs, and resources and achieve their settlement / resettlement and integration goals.

Service provides:

  • document translation services and interpretation sessions to help newcomers access services, programs, and resources and achieve their settlement / resettlement and integration goals

Includes:

  • in-office Commissioners for Oaths for true copy notarization and oath administration (administers oaths and takes and receives affidavits, declarations, and affirmations that will be used in Alberta)
  • the support of an interpreter to assist clients accessing Edmonton Immigrant Services Association settlement services

Examples of frequently received documents for translation include:

  • birth certificates

  • death certificates

  • divorce certificates

  • driver's licenses and driving records

  • education documents including high school diplomas, college or technical school diplomas, university diplomas, degree certificates, and transcripts

  • employment records

  • marriage certificates

  • police check

  • professional accreditation documents

Does not translate passport stamps, exit / entry records, course descriptions, court decisions, academic papers, newspaper reports, financial reports, or medical reports. Does not provide a certified translator to sign off for translations when an organization requires a certified translator's work.

  • permanent residents of Canada
  • convention refugees or protected persons as defined in Section 95 of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
  • individuals who have been selected to become permanent residents
  • refugee claimants
  • naturalized Canadian citizens

There is no wait to access service. The translation process usually takes approximately 2 to 8 weeks based on the document size and / or translator availability.

A minimum fee applies to translation services based on the size of the translation request. Payment is only required after the translation is completed. There is no fee for interpretation services. A mimimum fee may be charged for certified true copy notarization and oath administration. Contact for more details.
