Offers English as Another Language (EAL) classes (levels 3, 4, and 5) to newcomers.

Service offers:

  • English as Another Language (EAL) classes (levels 3, 4, and 5) to improve English learners' overall skills (listening, speaking, reading, and writing)
  • 6 class hours in total each week

EAL courses incorporate 1 or more of the following subjects:

  • adult basic literacy - for adults who want to upgrade their reading, numerical, and writing skills; students practice listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills with an emphasis on listening, understanding, and verbal skills
  • citizenship education - orients adults who are new to Canada to Canadian life by discussing social, economic, and political forces in Canada; helps students acquire knowledge of fundamental and democratic rights and freedoms in Canada and responsibilities as Canadian citizens
  • community and personal support - deals with various community issues such as family violence and drug abuse
  • health and wellness - incorporates elements of preventative health; provides students with a practical approach to remaining healthy and fit while learning English, with a focus on health, fitness, nutrition, and preventative measures
  • human rights and legal rights - informs students of the rights and freedoms that Canadian citizens enjoy and practice

Classes are currently offered online only due to the latest provincial public health guidelines.

Registration fee of $60.00 (in-person classes) / $40.00 (online classes) per term for permanent residents and naturalized Canadian citizens, or $100.00 (in-person classes) / $80.00 (online classes) per term for holders of any type of temporary visa in Canada (such as temporary foreign workers and visitors).
