Court of Appeal

Service offers:

• hearing of appeals from the Court of King's Bench, the Alberta Court of Justice, and Administrative Tribunals
• opinions on questions referred by the Lieutenant Governor under the Judicature Act

Appeals to Court of Appeal are accepted from:

• Court of Justice - Combined Indictable and Summary Criminal Offences
• Court of Justice and King's Bench - Indictable Criminal Offences
• Court of Justice - Family Law Act (as specified by the applicable legislation)
• King's Bench Justice's Order
• Appeals from some Tribunals or Boards (as specified by the applicable legislation)

Appeals that are not accepted by the Court of Appeal and must be filed in the Court of King's Bench:

• Court of Justice Civil
• Court of Justice - Family Law Act
• Court of Justice Traffic
• Court of Justice Criminal - Summary Criminal Offences
• An Application Judge Order
• Appeals from some Tribunals or Boards (as specified by the applicable legislation)

• individuals who want to make a civil or criminal appeal
• or individuals who want to make applications or appeals respecting certain judgments, orders, and decisions of other courts
