Description

Performs a variety of jazz, big band, and dance music.

Service provides:

an opportunity for musicians to participate in a big band ensemble
guest clinicians and workshops as part of the jazz band's development
an opportunity to play at various events and venues - has previously participated in the Edmonton Jazz City, performed at the Yardbird Suite, and performed at various events and functions in and around St. Albert, as with the concert band

This band has the traditional Big Band instrumentation with one person per part.

Eligibility

Yes, Service targeted to:

adults and students
who have played a big band instrument for a minimum of 3 years
and who are members

Application Process

If positions become available, there is a 3 month probation period for new members based on qualifications and skill level. Subs may be required from time to time.Referral Process: No

Waiting Period: Yes,

As Big Band is smaller, openings for players are rare, but do occur. Once a member of Big Band leaves, a call is put out first to concert band members, then usually by word of mouth to other musicians to fill that chair.
