Service offers:
- emergency shelter services including over 675 year-round emergency shelter spaces at 4 locations in Edmonton
- emergency shelter overflow - activation of additional spaces to accommodate more community members in need of shelter during periods of extreme weather (such as extreme cold or significant weather events)
- warming space during the day during extreme cold weather
Hope Mission operates the following emergency shelters on a 24/7 basis:
- Hope Mission Centre (275 spaces) - multiple shelters operate in this facility including gender specific shelters for those who identify as men or women, gender neutral shelter that is non-gender specific, and spaces for couples and family members
- Herb Jamieson Centre (400 spaces) - Men's Emergency Shelter
- Karis Centre (soft opening; 37 spaces) - Women's Emergency Shelter
- CarePoint Wellness Centre (60 spaces currently) - shelter accepts any gender with designated spaces for couples and individuals who identify as gender neutral, men, and women and offers shelter and supports for refugees / newcomers to Canada
- Emergency Shelter Overflow (Hope Mission Centre; available during select times)
Shelter services offered at Hope Mission Main and Herb Jamieson facilities include:
- services for heavily intoxicated community members to stay and stabilize while under the influence of alcohol or drugs
- services for community members with mobility concerns (accessible for those using a wheelchair, cane, or walker) and / or health issues within facility's level of care
- regular emergency shelter spaces
- medical care
- housing support
Shelter services available at CarePoint Wellness Centre include:
- meals / nutrition
- daytime space (tables, chairs)
- storage,
- hygiene services (showers, laundry, clothing, and supplies)
- phone / computer / internet access
- low mobility accessible
- men's washroom, women's washroom, gender neutral shower stalls, and 1 gender neutral and barrier free washroom and shower
- semi-private spaces with partitions between bunk beds
- wrap-around supports
- specific supports on site for refugees / newcomers to Canada who are experiencing homelessness including dedicated staff on-site during business hours to support people with immigration services and documentation
