Rimbey Hospital provides 24 / 7 emergency assessment and care for obstetrical patients.
Laboring patients should be directed to the Emergency Department (ED) where they will be either:
- Assessed and delivered in the ED (for imminent deliveries).
- Assessed, admitted and delivered in Acute care Labour and Delivery suite (for planned, low riskdeliveries of patients managed by Rimbey physicians)
- Assessed and transferred to another AHS site for delivery (usually Red Deer),
- Assessed and sent to another AHS delivery site.
